Alaziri was founded on a simple belief: technology should make life feel easier, not more complicated.
People should be able to trust that technology will solve their problems without requiring them to understand how it works.
Yet too often, technology in Kenya is either designed somewhere else and adapted to us as an afterthought, or built around systems that ordinary people find difficult to understand and use.
We believe Kenya deserves technology designed from the beginning around how Kenyans actually live, work, communicate, move and build.
That is our mission:
To advance Kenya through intuitive technology.
Technology that feels natural
The most powerful technology eventually stops feeling like technology.
People should not need to understand databases, payment infrastructure, logistics systems, artificial intelligence or complex financial processes to benefit from them. They should simply be able to describe what they need, press a button, ask a question or take the next natural step.
That is what intuitive technology means to us.
It is technology that understands people well enough to meet them where they are.
We are building more than one thing
Alaziri is not a single-product company.
We are building a collection of independent products and companies working across transportation, business operations, finance, payments, entertainment, creativity, commerce and other important parts of everyday life.
These products may appear unrelated at first.
But they are connected by the same purpose.
Each one asks a version of the same question:
Can this part of life be made simpler, more accessible and more powerful through technology designed for the people using it?
Sometimes the answer will become a focused product. Sometimes it may grow into an independent company with its own brand, leadership, culture and ambitions.
Alaziri exists to give those ideas the environment they need to flourish.
Built for Kenya, without limiting our imagination
Kenya is not merely the first market in which we happen to operate.
It is the context from which we build.
Our transport networks, businesses, payment habits, institutions and communities present challenges that cannot always be solved by importing products designed for entirely different environments.
That makes Kenya one of the most interesting places in the world to build technology.
The limitations people see around us are often the opportunities.
Industries that have historically been overlooked can become platforms capable of supporting millions of people.
When we build successfully for the realities of Kenya, we believe many of those solutions can travel beyond it, across Africa and eventually anywhere people face similar problems.
But our ambition to grow globally will never require us to become less Kenyan.
The better we understand where we come from, the more original and useful our technology can become.
A home for ambitious ideas
Over time, companies naturally become protective of what already works.
They optimise existing products, avoid uncertainty and become hesitant to pursue ideas that may initially appear too difficult, too early or too strange.
We want Alaziri to resist that instinct.
We will continue improving the products people already depend on, while also making room for ideas whose value may not be immediately obvious.
Some experiments will fail.
Some will remain small.
Some may take years before they become meaningful.
And some may grow into products that change how millions of people experience an entire part of their lives.
We are comfortable with that uncertainty.
Important progress rarely begins as an obvious business.
It often begins with a problem that has been accepted for too long, an unconventional idea and a small group of people stubborn enough to believe that a better system can exist.
Independence with a shared purpose
As Alaziri grows, its companies should not lose their identities inside the parent organisation.
Each company should be able to develop its own brand, product culture, leadership and relationship with its customers.
The people closest to a problem should have the independence to solve it.
Alaziri’s responsibility will be to support them with patient capital, shared infrastructure, strong governance and the freedom to pursue ambitious outcomes.
We want to create an environment in which entrepreneurs and teams can concentrate on building exceptional companies without every company being forced into the same shape.
They will share Alaziri’s values, but they should not all look like Alaziri.
Their independence will make the entire group stronger.
Building infrastructure, not just applications
Many of the problems we are interested in cannot be solved by placing a beautiful interface over a broken system.
They require deeper work.
They may require new payment rails, transport infrastructure, identity systems, business networks, data platforms, operational tools or entirely new ways for organisations to cooperate.
This is why we intend to build at several levels.
Sometimes we will create the experience a customer sees.
Sometimes we will build the infrastructure beneath that experience.
And sometimes we will do both.
Our goal is not to release the greatest number of applications. It is to create systems that meaningfully expand what people and businesses are capable of doing.
The long-term view
Alaziri is being built with a long horizon.
We do not want to measure every decision only by what it produces in the next quarter or the next year.
Some of the companies we build may generate value quickly. Others will require sustained investment, research and experimentation before their full potential becomes clear.
We will be disciplined about where we invest. We will expect every company to understand the problem it is solving, serve its users well and operate responsibly.
But discipline should not be confused with timidity.
When we see an opportunity capable of improving an important part of life, we want to pursue it at the scale that opportunity deserves.
What we believe
- We believe Kenya can produce technology companies that do more than localise ideas created elsewhere.
- We believe African technology can define new categories, establish global standards and solve problems with an originality that comes from understanding environments the rest of the world has often ignored.
- We believe technology should adapt to people, rather than forcing people to adapt to technology.
- We believe strong companies can be both commercially successful and deeply useful to society.
- We believe the greatest opportunities may exist in places where systems are fragmented, inefficient or considered too difficult to change.
- And we believe ambitious people should be given the independence, resources and trust required to build things that have never existed before.
We are excited about
Getting more ambitious ideas into the world.
Designing technology around real human behaviour.
Building infrastructure that strengthens Kenyan industries.
Helping people and businesses operate, grow and make better decisions.
Investing in difficult problems with long-term importance.
Creating products in Kenya that can eventually serve the world.
And, through all of this, expanding what people believe is possible from here.
Alaziri is still at the beginning.
Many of the things we want to build will take time. Some will change form along the way, and others have not yet been imagined.
That is part of what makes this journey exciting.
We are not building technology simply because the technology is impressive.
We are building it because of what people can do when the systems around them finally work in their favour.
Alaziri exists to advance Kenya through intuitive technology.
And for us, the sunset is only the start.
